Your data, clearly explained.

In short

• Thikr runs on your computer. It needs no account and shows no advertisements.
• Release 2.0.0 never connects to our servers and sends us no usage data. It does not send what you read, your Khatmah progress, your favourites, your settings, or any identifier for your device or for you.
• It contains no analytics, no tracking and no automatic crash reports.

1. Data on your device

The app keeps, only in its data folder on your computer:

• Your settings: reminders, appearance, quiet hours and the rest.
• Khatmah progress: the verses delivered to you and what you confirmed reading.
• Favourites, bookmarks and your last reading position.
• The adhkar counter and today's adhkar progress.
• The design you chose in Share Studio.
• Your prayer-times city, if you chose one. Prayer times are calculated on your device.

These files are never uploaded or shared, and we cannot access them. On macOS they are in ~/Library/Application Support/dhikr. Deleting that folder deletes all of them.

2. When data leaves your device, and only by your choice

• Finding your location (optional): "Use my current location" asks your permission first, then takes one reading from macOS Location Services to suggest the nearest city.
  • The matching happens on your device. The coordinates are not sent to us and are not stored.
  • The city is saved only after you confirm it, and choosing a city by hand is always possible.
  • Location Services is Apple's, and works under Apple's privacy policy.
• Writing to us: "Report a problem" and "Suggest an idea" open your email app with a blank message to thikrdesktop@gmail.com.
  • The app attaches nothing. We receive only what you write and your email address.
  • The message passes through your email provider and reaches a Gmail mailbox, run by Google.
• Sharing: an image you export from Share Studio is saved where you choose, copied, or sent to the app you pick from the system share menu.
• External links open in your browser.

3. System permissions

• Notifications: to show reminders. You can withdraw them in System Settings at any time.
• Location: only when you ask for it yourself, as in section 2.
• Open at login: optional, and off by default.
• The app does not ask for the camera, the microphone or your contacts.

4. The website and the download files

• thikrdesktop.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and the installers on Cloudflare R2 at downloads.thikrdesktop.com.
• The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no download counting.
• Like any website, Cloudflare processes technical connection data to serve the pages and files and to protect them from abuse, including:
  • your IP address,
  • your browser type,
  • the time of the request.
• Cloudflare keeps this data under its own privacy policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).
• We keep no logs of visitors' names or addresses. The Cloudflare dashboard may show us aggregate figures, such as request counts and countries, which identify no one.

5. Your messages, and deletion requests

• We use what you write to us only to reply and to improve the app. We do not sell or share it.
• Your message stays in the mailbox as long as it is needed to follow it up.
• To ask us to delete a message you sent, or for any privacy question, write to thikrdesktop@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
• The app's own data is on your device, so you delete it yourself: delete the data folder in section 1, or the app and then the folder.

6. Children

The app collects no personal data from anyone, children included.

7. Changes to this policy

If a future release adds an online service, such as news or sending suggestions from inside the app:

• We update this policy before that release.
• We explain what is sent and when, and nothing about you is sent except by your own action.
