Thikr, on your desktop.

Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. A Chip field such as Apple M1, M2 or later means Apple Silicon; an Intel Processor means the Intel version.

This release is not yet signed by Apple, because Thikr is a free, one-person project. macOS therefore shows a warning the first time you open it. You don’t need to turn off any protection or use Terminal: open it once with these steps, and it opens normally from then on.

First: install

1. Open the file you downloaded (Thikr-2.0.0-….dmg).
2. Drag the app icon to the Applications folder.

On macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later

1. Open the app from Applications. macOS says it was not opened because it could not be verified; click Done.
2. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, and scroll down to Security.
3. Next to the message about the app, click Open Anyway. The button stays for about an hour after you tried to open it.
4. Confirm with your password or Touch ID, then click Open.

On macOS 13 or 14

1. In Applications, right-click the app (or Control-click it) and choose Open.
2. Click Open in the message that appears.

To be sure the file is exactly the one we published, compare its fingerprint with the SHA-256 shown above. Open Terminal, type shasum -a 256 and a space, drag the file into the window and press Enter. The result must match the published fingerprint exactly.

There are no automatic updates in this release. Each new release is published on this page: download it and replace the old app in Applications. Your settings, Khatmah and favourites stay as they are, including those from the earlier 1.2.0.
